Three unique qualities of the school, in addition to the high quality of education, in a caring and supportive environment:
  1. The Four Point Program. For a week in late February, each class embarks on an experiential learning experience that helps students become well-traveled responsible citizens of the future.
    - The entire ninth grade class travels abroad.
    - Sophomores stay on campus and engage in arts and community service projects.
    - Juniors spend eight days winter camping in the mountains of western Maine.
    - Seniors follow their passions through independent projects that often take them around the world.
  2. Gould offers high level, competitive on-snow athletics including alpine, Nordic, freestyle, and snowboarding. Gould is only six miles from Sunday River Ski Resort, one of the largest ski resorts in the eastern U.S.
  3. Gould’s small size allows faculty to focus on students’ individual accomplishments while fostering a sense of unity throughout the school. This makes Gould very effective in producing independent, successful graduates who define their own success.

Advanced Placement (AP):
Courses include: AP Literature and Composition, AP Language and Composition, AP Government and Politics, AP U.S. History, AP Calculus, AP Statistics, AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Mechanics, Honors Computer Sciences, Honors Spanish 4.

Special subjects offered:
Other courses and electives offered include: Astronomy, Silversmithing, Blacksmithing, Farm and Forest, Technology and Society, Banned Books, Music Technology, Environmental Science.

Languages:
Spanish, French, Introduction to Chinese. Upper level Spanish and French students have the opportunity to study abroad.

Computer (courses):
Honors Computer Science, Robotics, Electronics, Aeronautics.

Arts (special choir, drama etc.):
Three dramatic productions a year; Gould is an All-Steinway School offering ten Steinway pianos on campus; Band, Chorus, Dance, Music Theory, Broadway: History of the American Musical, private voice and instrumental lessons.

Sports:
Alpine, Freestyle/Freeride, Nordic, Snowboarding, Cross-Country Running, Equestrian, Field Hockey, Golf, Mountain Biking, Soccer, Strength and Conditioning, Basketball, Baseball, Lacrosse, Road Cycling, Skateboarding, Softball, Tennis.

Extra curricular activities (clubs):
Ski Patrol, Ski Instruction, Outing Club, Farm and Forest, Dance, Rock Climbing, Gould Goes Green, Reach Out Service Organization, Yearbook, Book Club, Polar Bear Club.
