Lawrence Academy
Groton, Massachusetts, USA |
Three unique qualities of the school, in addition to the high quality of education, in a caring and supportive environment:
- Student Centered Learning: Lawrence Academy recognizes you for who you are and inspires you to take responsibility for who you want to become.
- Winterim Program: An occasion for experiential learning, when students and teachers plunge together into the world outside the classroom – whether they choose to devote themselves to community service or a specific skill or project in the Greater Boston area or whether they leave the campus to explore the people, art, or environs of an American or international location.
- Independent Immersion Program (IIP): Under the supervision of the director and a faculty mentor, selected students create unique programs of study which include intensive independent studies with on- and off-campus professionals, internships, and traditional course work.

Ninth Grade Program (NGP): In the NGP, students are supported in becoming more conscious of who they are as learners. The NGP with its interdisciplinary approach (combining arts, science and English/ history) is all about students’ both learning how to walk on their own intellectual legs and then better knowing where they want to go.
Combined Studies Course (CSC) in grade 10: The CSC weaves together the study of English and history to emphasize the reading, writing, and research skills that they share. |
